Chinese candidates who are not illegible for a CSC-grant or are not awarded a CSC-grant but who want to do a PhD at Ghent University, can apply for a doctoral grant for candidates from developing countries, issued by Ghent University.

How does it work?
The candidate applies to Ghent University jointly with a promoter of Ghent University.The Research Council makes a selection of the applications based in part on the recommendations obtained from members of the Council for Development Cooperation. The recommendation is based on the evaluation of the doctoral project, the qualifications of the applicant and the scientific/scholarly potential of the promoter’s research group(s).

How much funding is involved?
The cofunding consists of financing for living and accommodation (about €5.400/year), insurance (about €500) and a bench fee (€3.720/year)

There are ten fellowships. Each is intended to be mutually beneficial. The fellow is expected to contribute to the life of the host institution eg by leading a seminar in which they present their research or writing. Fellows are selected by agreement between the host institution and CWIT. Scholarship Description: A scheme of Government of India for the women scientists, “Women Scientists Scholarship Scheme (WOS-C)” is being operated by the Department of Science & Technology (DST). The scheme aims to train women having qualifications in science/ engineering / medicine or allied areas in the area of intellectual property rights (IPR) and their management for a period of one year.

Government is interested in retaining the scientific talent of Indian women seeking scientific pursuits and keen to encourage women to work from their homes and enabling them to draw a good balance between professional and domestic demands. The scheme is being coordinated and implemented by Patent Facilitating Centre (PFC) of Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC) on behalf of DST. The selection of the candidates is done by an all India level written test followed by a rigorous interview. Selected candidates will be given stipend for one year. Training will include one month of an intensive orientation programme on IPR followed by specialized workshops and hands-on-training in agencies engaged in IPR protection and management.

Scholarship
The scholarship will be admissible for a period of one year and the amount of scholarship
will be Rs. 12,500 per month for candidates having MSc/BTech/MBBS/BPharma or
equivalent qualification and Rs.17,500 per month for PhD/ MTech/ MPharma/ MVSc/
MS/MD or equivalent.

Eligibility Criteria
Essential
A candidate should be:
1. An Indian citizen.
2. Master of Science in physical sciences, chemical sciences, life sciences or allied areas; or Bachelor or Master degree holder in engineering, medicine, pharmaceutical science, veterinary science or allied areas or doctorate in any of the above areas. Candidates with higher qualifications are welcome to apply.
3. Familiar with handling of computerized databases, surfing the net and information searches.
4. A candidate should not be more than 50 years of age on the date of advertisement in the Employment News on October 31, 2010.

The Programme is designed to support applicants who demonstrate a strong desire to visit the UK in order to enhance their skills, and who can clearly show that all other arrangements for their training have been made. They should also meet the following criteria:

Must be aged between 30 and 50 years
Must have a firm offer (up to 3 months) from a UK University or training institution

Award holders will receive a grant of £ 1,250 per month for a maximum of 3 months. The scheme does not support:

Shortages of ecosystem services can substantially curtail the livelihoods of particularly the rural population in developing countries who vitally depend on land productivity and natural resources.  The overall objective of the proposed research is to develop innovative valuation methodologies suitable for application in developing countries and apply the methodologies to value changes of land management decisions with respect to non? marketed ecosystem services in the West African Sudanian Savannah region.

It is designed to provide students with a qualification that validates a wide range of professional skills and allows them to respond flexibly to the changing challenges of the language services market. Students take practical modules on interpreting in local authority and healthcare settings. These are designed to enable students to pass the examinations of the widely recognised Diploma in Public Service Interpreting, which is offered by the professional body the Chartered Institute of Linguists.

Doctorate followed by research activity and at least three years’ teaching experience, including proven experience in supervising doctoral candidates. Highly active in conducting application-related scientific research in the field of mathematics, and cutting-edge academic achievements, documented by a comprehensive list of academic publications for internationally-reviewed journals and publishing houses. Detailed statement by at least one collaborative partner in Germany on the prosposed cooperation as well as by the Director of the Institute or Dean of the relevant institution. Expert reviews by important collaborative partners and academics at the applicant’s own institute and other institutes, if possible not all located in the country where he/she is currently working.

The call addresses academics from any country who demonstrably conduct application-related research in the field of mathematics, have several years’ experience in heading an independent working group or research institute as well as in training students and doctoral candidates. The application must be supported by at least one collaborative partner in Germany. There will only be one call for the endowed chair in “Mathematics and its Applications” at AIMS-Senegal.

International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) offers Postdoctoral Fellowship for Students in Animal Health at Uganda, 2012

Eligibility:
-A passion for the generation of scientific knowledge that advances pro-poor development
-PhD in veterinary epidemiology or a related field
-BVSc desirable, BSc in animal sciences possible
-Experience in research design and use of quantitative analytic methods (including epidemiological modeling) in assessing infectious disease prevalence Experience with field work in the developing world.
-Experience in clinical examination of pigs and obtaining biological samples
-Experience in sample barcoding systems and sample storage and tracking
-Development and maintenance of databases
-Knowledge of diagnostic laboratory assays – bacterial culture, faecal egg counts, ELISA, PCR
-Strong English language skills, both written and spoken (proficiency in a local language is an advantage); and
-Willingness to travel frequently, often to rural areas in developing countries

ILRI seeks to recruit a Post Doctoral Fellow to implement the animal health component of a project which aims to improve smallholder pig value chains in Uganda. The Post Doctoral Fellow will be part of a team designing and evaluating pilot interventions to improve livelihoods, incomes and assets of smallholder households by raising productivity of their pig enterprises based on a package of technical and organizational strategies. The Fellow will be part of the Animal Health Team and reports to the Project Coordinator. S/he will contribute to designing and working closely with national research and development partners to implement the research, with specific responsibility for characterizing the prevalence of pathogens affecting pigs in small holder farming system in multiple sites in Uganda. S/he will be expected to actively contribute to preparing strategic communication products including journal publications.

Eligibility:
1. Be between 15-21 years of age as of the date of the audition.
2. Be a resident of South Coast Region of Massachusetts.
3. Be actively involved in an instrumental or vocal performance program and intending to continue such music study.
4. Must submit two (2) letters of recommendation from music teachers/instructors – these should include your current vocal/instrumental director and/or your private teacher.
5. Must not have been awarded this scholarship within the last two years.
6. Must provide his/her own live or recorded accompaniment for the audition, unless the work performed is originally an unaccompanied work for solo instrument or voice
